Japanese Pheasants in the snow
Just back from 2 weeks up in the mountains in Hakuba (Nagano Winter Olympics 1998) More photos to come but for now, here are a couple of pics of a pair of pheasants in the snow. I blew the snow, but had to to get the darkness of the birds. Comments welcome.

Thanks Stephen. It does make the colours stand out doesn't it. They are actually quite dark to look at against the contrast of the bright snow, so I needed to go up about 1.3 I think to get those colours.

Thanks Dave. I was pretty stoked to have seen them. It's only the second time I have ever seen them in 10 years in Japan

Thanks Russ. They were quite beautiful to watch wandering around in the snow for the few minutes they lingered.

Hi Mike.. Welcome back. Your pheasants are much different than ours but both have lots of great color, these are really multi-colored. Good job capturing them with the white stuff behind.
Believe it or not but we are getting snow as I type. It looks like we will have a pretty good accumulation by morning (for us anyway), but nothing like you have there.

Thanks Chris. I'd be interested to see some pics of your pheasants if you have any. We had way too much snow! I spent a day digging out the cars at my mate's lodge!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
