Blue & Gold Macaw taken at the Birmingham, AL Zoo. Just a little something to add some color while maintenance is going on.

Canon 10D, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM - shot at 1/90 second at f/8 and 160mm, and ISO 100. Hand held w/IS on. No flash and shutter priority using spot metering.

Hey Dixie I appreciate your images all are ..............(insert superlative)thumb.gifthumb

However my B&G Macaw (Maggie) is quite miffed with me now that you have posted an image, before I got a chance to shoot a decent one of Maggie (shes molting & has a feather picker of a buddy)

    Here's an earlier shot :

and here's her feather pickin buddy:

You would think with them in my backyard, I'd have some decent images but Nooooooooooooooo rolleyes1.gif, there actually quite shy, every time I point my camera at them they turn there backs to me headscratch.gifscratch:D

Your do great work, Man. Just wanted to share

    Thank you for your comments.

Actually this Macaw was quite the ham. There were two of them and as I moved around for different angles this one would actually move into to a new position for me. I swear that at least twice after I had snapped a shot, he looked at me as if to ask was that a good pose. Definitely anything but shy.

Now, that feather pickin' buddy of Maggie's sure looks as if he could perform for the camera if he wanted to. He is probably just trying to get your goat by being obstinate. ...being the feather pickin' bird that he is. :D

Just caught this one, Dixie. Super nice shot. Great detail and color, really sharp. Nice work, man. Cool to see that bokeh at f8 at 160mm.
