Two Questions

I moved up to a 1D MkIII this July, and it's been great! No issues at all, shooting indoors, sports, etc. Then, the 1Ds came out. I'm thinking about upgrading. So, my questions are, how available is this camera? None of the major retailers seem to know about their stock status. The other question is, if I were to do this, do you think anyone would be interested in my current 1D MkIII? It's a few months old, with the box, manuals, etc.

Thanks

I think there are still waiting lists for the 1Ds MKIII, so you can probably sign up for a future delivery. Production on these cameras is relatively low.

There is a strong used market for the 1D MKIII, especially if you have one that has no focus issues. You would probably want to provide documentation of your use.

Market value would hinge upon condition of the camera, number of actuations, etc.

I doubt you will have any trouble selling a clean 1DMIII.
But I'm wondering why you are thinking about going to a 1DsMIII from a 1DMIII. The cameras are very different in my view about it's application/intended use with 1DMIII more for sports and PJ and 1DsMIII for editorial or more for fine arts.

What do you intend to shoot with the 1DsMIII? What do you currently shoot?

My subject matter is primarily real life, but also I shoot a lot for 3D animation. 22 MP will greatly enhance the textures I shoot.
And, going full frame is great too, as I an take advantage of my wider lenses.

    That's pretty much it. :)

If it's trying to capture lots of details (texture) only thing that'll beat the 1DsMIII in terms of resolution would be a medium format, so it may work out for you.

I'm taking a trek with Moose Peterson and the digital landscape workshop
next fall, so the higher resolution will be great.

Now if I can find a vendor with some stock :)

    thanks for the comments
