Advice for submitting to Magazines

Hello!

I have a few questions.

So...I'm going to submit my portfolio (some but not all of these photos http://www.lauramalischkephotography.com/gallery/3243470#179438219 )
to some magazines to see if they like my style and would hire me.

I'm going to go all out and submit to a LOT of magazines. Obviously, I will read their individual submission requirements. But I am planning on writing a cover letter, a resume, and making some sort of flash movie of my images.

Two questions:

Does this sound like a good approach (flash movie, documents, etc)

and

What if someone does want to hire me? What do I charge? What about travelling (I live in WI so most likely I'll have to travel). Of course, I'm willing to start on the low end due to not having a lot of experience, but what would be a ballpark figure to start negotiating at? I don't want to seem unprofessional.

I would love an input you have, thanks!! :ear
