anyone ever offered gift certificates via google checkout?

Someone gave me the idea the other day to offer a place on my site for people to purchase a sitting for someone else, like a gift certificate. Say, Grandma and Grandpa in state A want photos of their kids/grandkids who live near me in state O...they could buy the sitting for them on my site and the kids could contact me to get booked. Anyone done this? Potential problems? I could see there being an issue if scheduling the booking became difficult, but otherwise it seems like it would work the same way as those already using Google checkout for session deposits. Thoughts?

Seems like it would work fine. I think Google Checkout is letting you customize the checkout buttons now (they didn't used to...) so you could even create a gift certificate button.

You might want to create a pdf or doc to email folks-- seems like people want something (even an emailed code) just to prove they really do have credit or a gift certificate.

How would you manage it? How would they place the order? Seems like a lotta work, to me.
