Good grief....I've been asked to photograph a national ski convention in Breckenridge. It will force me to have to take time off from my full time job in order to do the three week day events, plus there will be two weekends worth of events too.

How the heck do I charge for this? A basic hourly rate per event? What about travel expenses? Damn! I seriously need a business manager.

Did you agree to it yet or did they offer anything?

I'd charge for the entire event, plus lodging/travel expenses. I've ony shot one event for a friends cousin, so im not the best. Definitly include your hourly salary rate into the factor since you are taking time off... sorry I can't help you with much else.

    Sheba,

We need more info: Who, what, where, when, what has been requested, etc.

    What are their expectations?

Do you have experience with sports photography?

Have you photographed fast moving people, or objects?

Do you have back up gear?

Do you have sufficient, lenses, memory, DVD burners, laptop?

You will have a huge number of captures, do you have a work flow that will quickly, and efficiently handle this?

    Do you have any assistants?

Do you have time to pick up and / or learn what you don't have?

    Just my thoughts.

    Sam
