These little guys don't hang around for long. I'm having better success though with the longer reach of the 200-400. Up to now, I used the 70-200 and even from a hide, the small birds got spooked off by the shutter clicks. The longer lens lets me get back some and I can click away!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Hi George.. GREAT captures. And you are right, they don't hang around very long. Tough to follow if you are using long glass too.

Shots like that make you appreciate the fine detail in the little guys as much as the big raptors and herons. I think these are harder to get too as they move very fast.

I've also begun shooting in the backyard from a blind and found that if I wrap a sweater or towel around the camera, it muffles the shutter noise enough to use a 70-200 from a few feet away. Nice wren shots!

Good idea! That can come in pretty handy in other situations too. Thanks for looking!
