This one is from Sagres Point in Portugal, from the time of Prince Henry the Navigator, it is said this site is where the Navigation School was located and where he would start his Discoveries From. It is possible this was from Henry's time, and would date back to the early 1400's.

The Compass Rose and Sundial was reported to have been used to teach the new Captains to sail with.
Take care,

I like this IR, Panther. Early science captured with modern science. Very nice use of the necessary shadows to demonstrate the use of this old technology. It has a somewhat moonscape feel to it, ancient, yet essential.
