This downey kept trying to land on my lens. Soon after these were taken the snow started to fly and it was time to pack up go home and process.

Cheers,

That will be quite enough Tim ;-)
First the Pheasant now a hard to capture Flicker. I'm starting to really get upset with you, Tim :lol4

Seriously, very nice shots. I just wish you could have gotten a bit closer to the Flicker, butt shot or no, but they're pretty skittish so it's understandable. Your other woodpeckers are very nice. Love those bright red heads thumb.gifthumb.gif

Glad to see you remembered to insert your CF card :lol The pics turn out so much better that way blbl.gif

Hey Tim, those are nice shots. I really like the color contrast between the bird and the wood. Very pleasing. But it looks to me like the birds are soft. I checked out your EXIF. It kind looks like f3.2 is too narrow a depth of field for 400mm. ne_nau.gif Like, the wood is really crisp in the first and last shots, but the birds aren't. Whaddya think?
    Sid.

Focal length was 200mm the iso was 400, and you are ,100% correct I am still learning this lens and couple that with todays low fading light and I did not get the sharpness I desired.

I remember using AF and then some manual focus, I think 4.0 might have been a better option here and using a tripod with todays low light however I left my tripod in the other car . Doh!

Thanks for looking Waxy and I appreciate your help.thumb.gif

Oops, thanks for the correction. This is very interesting, DOF on a long lens is a good thing to talk about.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
