Hi Y'all,

Went out shooting with Nancy (Flygirl) yesterday and the weather wasn't the best. In the morn it was overcast and foggy. I went to my 28-70 to shoot landscapes because I didn't think we would get any bird shots in.

That was a juvenile bald eagle on that perch. I tried to get some shots but they were pretty bad.

pretty soon a pair of red shouldered hawks came along and chased the juvenile. D3 ISO 3200

The light got a tad better D3 ISO 800

would have gotten more hawk shots but we noticed this one down the road. D3 ISO 800

The eagle posed for over an hour. During that time some sandhills flew by

I noticed an elongated green heron - D300 ISO 800

We went down the road and saw this raptor. The light was the best it was that day. D300 ISO 400

By now it was lunch time and on our way out we saw an anhinga with its catch. D3 ISO 320

We went back after lunch but it really got cloudy and started to rain. Right before we gave up I got a shot of an American Bittern. D3 ISO 4000

If you're coming down here for MI V I think you will have a great time.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Mike and I am loving the D3. I've barely used my D300 since the D3 arrived.

Gee, you have a lot of great wildlife to shoot in one place. And you have both a D300 and a D3. Thats just not fair! Color me jealous.

Ya know what amazes me every time I see an eagle shot.. They always have that penetrating dead on serious look that is always so fabulous to see.

Great shots Harry. Bad weather day or not, your shots came out great. I was wondering when we'd get to see some shots from the D3..clap.gifclap.gif

Thanks Stephen, having the D3 and the D300 really makes a difference in these conditions.

Unfortunately the rain was too little to change our drought status.

That high ISO capability comes in handy that once or twice a year when we don't have a sunny day. :D When you come down for MI V I will re-intoduce you to sunlight. :cavig
