Priviet, dear friends!
Today I met a girl on a street. I made her photos a year ago -again accidentally.
Now I had about 10 min.
Must say its rather cold here - -10C. I took around 40. Here's the best :

    nice
    Yuri,

Very nice photo.... I like the colors and her eyes stand out well.

And I must say she is very pretty. Is she Russian? If so, I'm moving...Laughing.gif

Very neat shot - love the red framing her face, love the blue eyes, necklace adds even more character and interest.

    Cool

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

Wow, this one is good enough for a National Geographic (do you get that in Russia?) Great framing and wild colors. How much help did you give them in post?
    If not now, when?

    You've made me smile - Los'T' Angeles!
May I ask you what 'Hack' means - there's so many meanings of this word (horse, taxi, rent....) and my so-so English can't help me to understand it right way...

Yes, we do have this wonderful magazine and (imagine!) I've send a letter with this photo (according to your advice) to them!
Not that much postprocessing - just removed some freckles, levels, added and blured a copy of layer with multiply blending mode...

Just gorgeous, Yuri, and a perfect exposure. Did you use a fill flash or was it all natural light? Your images are brilliant and compelling.

    Dear Yuri,
A hack is someone who isn't very good at what they do. I know almost nothing about photography, I've never taken a class and I generally have no idea what I am doing. I call myself Lucky Hack because every once in a while I get a decent shot and that's where the luck comes in. Also, I consider myself lucky because at 32 years of age I have had more brushes with death than most people have in there entire life. Others who were much more deserving of life than I have passed on and so the only explanation that I am left with is that I am very very lucky.

Where: On the streets (as in this case), in cafes, anywhere. Whom: friends, friend's children, known and unknown people (asking permission).
    In 70%-90% it works!

I'd like to share a couple of secrets with you, but afraid, I don't have even one.
Maybe these info will be interesting to you (please, tell me if so)
During these 10 min of our 'photo session'
    1. I took 42 shots
    2. I asked her to take 15 poses
    3. 2 photos were with bad focus - I used autofocus.
    4. Used Auto mode with Daylight WB
    5. Payed MUCH attention to right exposure - I use SONY F707 without histogram preview (717 or 828 do have).
    6. Use metering on the face skin
    7. Focus was made on eyes.
    8. Used compensation expo. +/- from 0.3 to 2 depending on light condition (The illumination was changing all the time cause of sun and clouds movement:-)
    9. Babbled on and on all the time...
... Its a pitty, I dont have her phone No or address....
    Spasibo for your interest
    Yuri

I use F707 Sony and dont like its flash - so I never use it (otherwise there's no other way to take a shot), so almost all my photos are with natural light.
