I've found ways to do most everything that I wanted except for one thing.

I know how to make an HTML gallery, put an image.link into the text description, etc. I just don't know how to add a description to a virtual gallery!

A "virtual gallery" in the style of /keywords/tiara will simply collect all the photos with that tag. I don't know if there is a way to add a description for that type of page.
In thinking about it, you could probably write up a little javascript that looked at the breadcrumb region and then do a little search for "keyword > tiara" then replace that with some "keyword > tiara " + your_html.
What I might suggest differently, is to put the image and link to your manufacturer website in the "caption" for each image. It wouldn't be hard to write a little program that went through your images, and if it found a keyword for 'tiara', add your html to the caption. Then your "virtual gallery" would show the link at the bottom of each image, which the caption normally goes.
Depending upon your approach, you might be better off looking for help in the customization forum...
