I don't do a whole bunch of landscape type shots these days, however when I get a chance to photograph old automobiles or machinery I am eager.

I LOVE #2! The comp and light and pp are just right, IMO! I'm not as keen on the pp on 1 and 4...I like the treatment on 3 much better. Cool subject!

In hindsight, I should have set the tripod up and bracketed several different exposures on #1....then combined them to try to keep the exposure in the background. As it is, I tried to save shadows on the dashboard at the expense of those highlights.

Hey Elaine,

It was a very dreary day for photos. Overcast, but cold and the clouds were too thick to call it quality lighting for sure. I wish that the old driving path were more visible in #2. You can barely see it winding in from the right. The treatment I gave it really overcharged the blacks, but it does have a nice look still. The two you didn't really care for the PP on were done with a cross process preset. It is fairly edgy looking and certainly not up to everyones tastes. I think my favorite is the detail of that broken area of the windshield and rusty door pillar. I like the texture and it worked well with a split tone.

In other news, I went on the mission today that I told you I was going on. It didn't turn out so swell. Just a bleak day, with bleak thoughts. I may share those shots at some other time, but I am not up to it just yet.

Hi there Jeff, I love the #2nd and #3rd images in this bunch.

Rust is such a great texture, and has so many colours.

I prefer the sepia tones myself ....... nice work Jeff

Very cool! 1 is my favorite, especially the broken glass shards in the windshield.

I really like the green-toned versions - they make me pay attention. I tend to ignore some categories of pictures unless something really makes me look at them - in natural tones or especially sepia I just automatically think "eh, another old car", but in the green versions I pay attention and realize that old cars are actually pretty cool!

I like the newest natural-color version of 4, too (sepia still turns me off).

Really nice series. Old cars are such great things to shoot. I prefer the sepia and color versions, but all are a job well done!

Thanks, I am tired of straight -up sepia myself, but still like duo-tones and monotones, so I have just been trying out different treatments.

I agree about old cars and trucks. They are not easy to find in this area, and when you do find them it is tough to get access or permission to shoot sometimes. I made an honest attemp to get permission to shoot these. I went to the property adjacent and knocked on the door, but no one answered. There is another place nearby where I shot some once, but the guy put up a bunch of no trespassing signs. I abide.
