"Exposure" to the greats?
Pardon the pun
I'm looking for some suggestions on how to become more aware of "great" or well-known photographers. My intent is to help develop my eye and creative skills by broadening my perspectives.
Any ideas? Maybe some suggestions for a reading list (print or online)?
Thanks!

The web is your friend. But seeing some of these images on a high gloss large print can really take your breath away.
While your at the library. Find the tome called something like "Time: A year in pictures" (paraphrased from memory). There are fantastic shots w/ all the vitals of the shot attached so you can know who's shots you want to look up more on
In the tool bar just above this forum, between Gallery and New Stuff is one called Books.
If you purchase a book by a renowned photographer from Amazon, then Amazon will be happy to suggest other different books by photographers that folks who purchased the same book you did also found of interest.
I am sure our readers can quickly contribute names of great photographers that might be worthy of your interest too.
I may add a few later this evening myself, or you may have more questions after looking up the books in the dgrin link suggested above.
Addendum:

Today is no different except you can do sitting at home in your pajamas.
Type in "Great Photographers" and start wadding.

Thank you, everyone, for the fantastic suggestions as usual! This is exactly what I needed.
I'm not sure why, but it never occurred to me to go to the library.
