I need the best shot out of these. Please keep in mind I am a total newbie, and do not understand fully the operations of my camera.
That being said, which shot is the best? and if they all suck:rofl , I'll take your suggestion on how to get better monochromatic shots

I would like to see the background more out of focus. If the star-burst is the result of very small aperture there's not a lot that can be done. What you can do is move the pig further from the background, open the aperture (which will eliminate the starburst), and attach a starburst filter to bring it back. I would also like to not see the edge of the Al foil.

Well I'm gonna be different and say I like the last shot
and to be honest none of them really stand out.
Focus is slighty off with a couple of these shots.
To me you were becoming more creative with your last shot.
I think the more you look through the forum here the more ideas you will get, there are just so many awesome shots within these many forums.
Ideas, tips, tutorials .... I spend a lot of time just looking at images,
and taking in visual information.
You will continue to improve as you learn more about your gear,
and continue to practice .... keep shooting .... Skippy

:skippy Everyone has the right to be stupid, but some people just abuse the privilege :dgrin
But I can see why Skippy like the still-life. It shows a real attempt at composition and form. I thnk the cups could look more carefully arranged, though.
