Outstanding Kirwin. That was some fine lighting you had there. The exposure was excellent. The only nit I would pick is that the subject is a tad too centered but thats a real minor nit. Overall a stunning shot and a fine addition to Egret fest.

I had a rough time trying to figure what would end up being the best framing for this pic. I tried opening up the right side... so the bird was peering into the shot... but it just didn't "feel" right. Go figure...
The lighting wasn't actually great that day. The sun was still high in the afternoon sky... so I metered off a bright space of the image and knocked the exposure down by 1/3 to create the illusion that the sun was low in the sky!
