I just bought a Sigma 105mm Macro. I have been looking at LED macro light the Digi - Slave in particular. Is anyone familiar with this type of lighting? Is it worth the money?

LED ring lights are lightweight and convenient. They do not produce a lot of light, compared to an electronic flash (for instance), and the light is not as color accurate as electronic flash.

If you are using it for subjects which will not move and if you use a tripod I suspect you would be pleased with the results.

For insects and for freehand macro work I think you would appreciate an electronic flash (or two) on an appropriate mount.
