I don't know where your focus point was, but it appears to be the near shoulder. Maybe a tighter crop to put more focus on the eyes, since that was your title. The expression also looks like he just got done crying or is about to, just not appealing to me.
The eyes appear to be in focus to me, but the area of the shoulder that is also in focus demonstrates the thinness of your DOF. You could stop down the aperature quite a bit more at this distance, and bring his bangs, or his forehead and hair into sharper focus and your background would still be blurred. In addition, the reddish areas of his face could benifit from some extra PP work. Sometimes just warming things up a tad on the white balance will work. There is also a tutorial for skin tones here:
