RRS vs Kirk L-Bracket

I can't decide which to purchase for the 1DsII. The Kirk looks like it may be slightly lighter but it is missing the 1/4 inch threaded hole which may come in handy for vertical monopod attachment.
I like the way the Kirk looks more too, but that is not really a concern.
I would like to know if people here have had experience with these or reasons they might prefer one over the other.

Thanks!

Charlie

Really Right Stuff receives a lot of praise for their service and people
    seem happy with their stuff.

Are you looking for a plate that will allow you to swing the camera around
    or just a QR?

A cool link that discusses the benefit of an "L" plate.

Sid, Here is another link about the usefulness of the L plate.
    http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/tutorials/L_plates/index.html

FWIW, the FIRST thing I do when I purchase a new camera body is call Reallyrightstuff and order the appropriate 'L' bracket for it. I never remove again until I am ready to sell it. I put one on my wife's camera too - If I don't I get complaints from her about its absence.

A good L bracket and an Arca-Swiss clamp on a tripod, make using a tripod a joy instead of a pain.[/QUOTE]
