Very nice ... what's the F-stop on your lens? ... just out of curiosity, how do you find the D200 working with fast-action sports ... I just got one a few weeks ago and it seems to be sluggish with basketball. Maybe it's just that the user is sluggish with basketball ;-)
Anyways, keep up the good work ...

sigma 120-300 f2.8 HSM
the d200 AF-s as fast as the lens can AF and works great...

by slugish do you mean AF or FPS ?
AF -- I'm using an older Nikon 80-200mm F2.8 ... just seems sluggish compared to when I use it with my D1-H, like it has a hard time locking on ... what I used to get sharp most of the time is more of a 50-50 thing ...
thanks...

i suspect the focus motor in the d1h is way faster than the one in the d200....i only shoot sports with AFS lenses and i'm guessing your 80-200 is not the afs version....my 70-200 vr afs lens is very fast on my d200

I imagine that's the culprit -- had another frustrating night last night taking hoops pictures ... seems like I am always one piece of equipment away

i like my sigma 30 1.4 for baskeball and i stand under the basket...this lens is hsm so AF is very fast
The 85 1.8 is also good for the low light but since it is not afs it AF-s slow
