Resizing a Panoramic Photo in CS3

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. Can anyone please help me with the following:-
I am having a problem resizing a panoramic photo using the route, 'File' - 'Automate' - 'Photomerge'. After I have stitched the photos together how do I resize the photo making it deeper vertically. I have tried magnifying it and then after I crop it and send the photo to say 'My Docs' I find when I open it in 'My Docs' it has reduced in size to where it originally was before magnifying it. I would really appreciate it if someone would be good enough to tell me what I have to do exactly.
