Welcome. An introduction to this thread can be found here.
If you live in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon or Washington we'd love to see a bit of your town in this thread.
If you are uncertain of what to post, here's a suggestion: Choose a commercial center of your village, town or city. Be it a financial district, "downtown" area or other type of market center.
We will finesse these forums as we go depending on the level of posts and participation. But most importantly let's have fun doing this!
Start your post with a title containing a) STATE b) CITY, TOWN or VILLAGE where you live.
example: CALIFORNIA; BAKERSFIELD
Then insert your photo and add a few lines of descriptive text to tell us about the image and your life in that location.

About Kingsburg
Kingsburg is about equal distance from San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The town boasts its Swedish heritage, even calling the town a "Swedish Village"
Our population is just over 11,000.
It is small and quaint, a wonderful place to raise a family.

Here's a link to a digital panorama of downtown Portland I stitched together in PTGui on a MacPro. I couldn't get the photo to upload (because of the wide format?):

One of my favorite places on the planet...
Beautiful coastline:
Interesting sea life:
Gorgeous sunsets:
Erupting volcanoes:
Vigorous hiking:
Skiing??
And some of the clearest skies on earth:
(well, above 8000 ft. anyway!)
Lots more not shown... take your camera and a laid back attitude, stir and enjoy.
thanks Alvin!

Your shot of downtown p-town from the south side of the Hawthorne Bridge is right outside of my office. BTW, nice picture.

Now there's a construction crane now up at the west end of the Hawthorne Bridge which spoils the shots from the Eastbank. Do you know what is going up there?

Personally I stick to the water, but Hawaii Island has a bit of everything.
Mountains, valleys, desert, volcanoes, great culture, and pleanty aloha to go around. Check it out.

The quintessential small town, with all the good and bad that comes with that, Bakersfield is a town of some 350,000 people, but it feels much smaller. Characterized by its primary industries, oil and agriculture, it is infamous for its heavy-handed law-enforcement (come for vacation, leave on probation) and its portrayal in Grapes of Wrath. If you're headed north or south in California, it's a must-stop for pictures along the Kern River or Downtown.
