Photoshop - turning mask into selection?

Hello everybody,
I am trying to turn a section of a layer mask into a selection in Photoshop CS2. I am fairly positive that this is possible but cannot remember how.
Let's say I've got an adjustment layer with a layer mask filled with black. On the mask I've painted over the areas I'd like to be visible. How can I turn the outlines of the white painted area into a selection with "marching ants" border?
Thanks,
Jana
