a few shots from a gymnastics meet this past week. Hate the background but nothing I can really do about it - I'm as far away as I can get and shooting at 2.8. In any event, C&C always welcome:

Good shots! Were these taken at 3200? Can't remember if you shoot with Canon or Nikon.

    Nice faces
    John,
Awesome, I just love the facial expressions. What metering mode did you use?

    George.

Thanks George. I always use a manual exposure indoors and as often as possible outdoors with sports.

nice John, I like the head on beam angle, I've been asked not to shoot from that location at a meet before though.
What are you running at for fps? and whats your ratio?
Did you get my long winded response to your short Q about how many shooters?

Thanks Keith - I just saw your response in the other thread.

I normally agree with your assessment - beam and floor. The challenge with this HS is the gym setup. There is really two gyms normally separated by a curtain. They open up the curtain and the floor exercise is in that area - the lighting is absolutely HORRIBLE. Can't get a custom WB to work and even at 6400 the shots are not worth much. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to shoot the higher level gymnasts. It's either my niece's level 5 or the local HS. So, the poses are poor and form is bad - which makes for tough times for the photographer :D I think moreso than any sport I shoot gymnastics is tough for that reason (poor form ruining photos).
