It's been some time since I've posted, as I've just returned from a spectacular trip to Costa Rica. Returned with more than 30gb of photos to sift through. I'll keep the talking short, and let the images tell the story. Hope you enjoy.

Knowing the difficulty regarding hard ND filters and sunset refraction, my appreciation of shot #2 is huge! Great composition, wonderful exposure and great detail. Bravo!

Oh yeah, and the rest of the photos dont exactly stink either rolleyes1.gif

Great set! Thanks for sharing! How bout some specs on what lenses you shot with...

Thanks all for the kind comments. Pez--committed to coming home with some memorable images, I took an array of lenses. The list:

    17-40
    15mm Fisheye
    180mm Macro
    24-105
    70-200
    1.4 TC

Thankfully, I ended up using every piece of gear I took, which made toting a 30+ lb. pack around Costa Rica a bit more enjoyable...

I am thinking Costa Rica is far up my list of where to go on the next adult vacation (provided I find some extra income in the next few years!!! :D )

These are really beautiful. Nice work. Thanks for sharing them.

I think this series is what they made this guy for: bowdown.gif

Stunning, in every way, very well executed both technically (exposure) and artistically (lighting, composition). Very impressed!

I need to get me a fisheye!

    superb shots!!

    these are truly magnificant! bowdown.gif

not to get technical, but the greens and blues seem very (nicely) saturated. did you use a polarisation filter for that because i am thinking of buying one for my trip to vietnam.

    thanks for sharing!

They look quite nice I suppose :D.

Seriously, the shots into the sun are awesome. The exposure on the beach with palms, with the lovely light on the palms yet the sun not blown out is excellent. I'm guessing you are blending some bracketed exposures here?

I like the beasties as well.

    Top job.

Again, thanks everyone for the kind critique. A polarizer was key down there, as it helped to take the sheen of all the foliage, and the reflection off the rocks and water when shooting waterfalls. Definitely a very helpful tool if you're shooting greenery.

Interestingly enough, I didn't combine exposures on any of these shots. I am a huge believer in grad NDs and a reverse grad ND for into-the-sun shots. All were just very careful exposures, combined with some minimal highlight/shadow adjustments in PS.

Nice photos. A polarizer would have helped "Canopy Tour"

Yup. All the canopy and river shots were taken with a G9, so no polarizer there. Have the adaptor, but haven't picked up a polarizer quite yet...
