<o:p></o:p>Not for me! :wink
<o:p>
</o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>Since word has gotten out among my friends, family and co-workers about my photo habit, people have been coming for me for recommendations for weddings/events. I’ve been asked if I could shoot weddings and politely turned them down since I have no desired to become a wonderful wedding photographer like Shay, Scott, Lynne, Andi and so many others that I have seen on dgrin.
<o:p> </o:p>
So….
<o:p> </o:p>
I’ve decided to compile a list so that I can hand out.
<o:p> </o:p>
Any recommendations?

I need them for California... SD, LA/Orange County and Bay Area.

(and Shay tops my list for Southern California) :bow

    Michael Soo
    http://www.capturethelove.com/portfolio.php

    Located in Cupertino, California I know he travels to different locations for wedding photography.

    His photography forum is here: Soo Cool... http://www.soocool.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2

    I visit the forum often, especially to see the "critique & showcase," "Photo Secrets of Northern California," and "Events & Outings" as well as the "Discussion Forum."

    He doesn't "just" do weddings and recently quit his full time job to become a photo pro. He also teaches and the group goes on location to learn from each other.

    He might not appeal to everyone, but for those looking for a cross between traditional and journalistic I think he'd fit the bill.

    Wow - you've included me in some pretty exclusive company! I'm very flattered. Thanks.iloveyou.gif

    Our wedding photographers from 2002 (and my brother's in 2003) were Erika and Becky Burgin, aka "The Art of Emotion". Mother and daughter team. Looks like the son is in on it too, so now you'll always get the mom, and one of the kids. The "kid", Erika, takes great photos, so no worries, and you get twice the coverage.

    They shoot in journalistic style, but will take the "posed shots" as Asian parents will insist upon. They are energetic and fun, but very professional, and their images are excellent.

    They shot with film -- and according to their website, they still do. We ended up with a box full of negs and proofs of which I took maybe 5% to CostCo (!) to have scanned.

    If your friends use them, tell them Darryl and Glady gave the recommendation. :-}

    Funny -- my wife worked with Michael Soo when he was still a software developer.

    He won Popular Photography's "Photographer of the Year" in 2005.

    I've been following the blogs of some high-end wedding photogs, including these:

    Jessica Claire
    Jasmine Star
    ecker
    David Jay

    I believe they are all in Orange County but willing to travel anywhere in the world.
    Elaine

    Comments and constructive critique always welcome!

    Now that Shay is a west coaster, you might think about him, too. He's in SoCal, but still.... thumb.gif

    Not quite the high-end as some of the above, but you might consider including Nik in the mix. At least, he was at the Shay Stephen's Denver Wedding Photography Boot Camp and reflected great credit upon himself, his classmates, and his instructors.

    I'm going to agree with Dee's post. I didn't know Micheal was doing weddings, but I met him a few years ago, and I know he's a very talented, and creative photographer.
