Canon 40D owner. I've finally got myself a dSLR after 2 years. I ended up going with the EF-S 17-85 IS kit. The main reason I got over just the body and lens was it was cheaper for how much more I got. Also, I got it at Nat'l Camera so I could go in and get the Tam 17-50 2.8 instead of the lens I got if I don't like it. Plus, I am new to dSLR's so I could use those free classes that came with the purchase.

Hey Trevor - welcome to the DSLR club. Ain't it great.

I looked at the photos you posted and the first two didn't do much for me.

The last one though - I got stuck looking at that one for quite some time. It's simple. It's strong. I know exactly what it is, but it keeps drawing my eye back to it as I further explore it. I really like it!

When I was first looking at my camera I was in my room and was taking pictures of everything and I just looked up and took it. rolleyes1.gif

I think your going to like the 17-85 lens. I have one with my 20D and it serves as a great walk around lens. Used it almost exclusively on our recent trip to Western Australia. Have Fun!
