Took my little guy out to a monster truck event. He loves the carnage and it is good time to attempt action photos in bad lighting. :deal
Before the event you can get dow in the dirt and see the trucks and other vehicles up close.
Testing my new ultra wide lens
1.
Some crazy RC action
2.

The Carnage begins-

Action Sequence-

Perspective is a weird thing- The truck looks so small in this shot. :scratch

Thanks for looking- comments always appreciated

Awwwww WOW bet your son was just thrilled to bits about going to see those Monster Trucks, heck yeah I would have been too
How wide is your new lens Aaron?
These shots look great, got yourself some great shots with this lot.
How do they right those vehicles when they flip like that?
They look like they have plenty of safety bars in them.
Excellent Series Aaron thanks for sharing .... Skippy

Awesome stuff, dude! Great capture on the air shots. Love the WAs too!
Thanks Skippy-
Yeah he loves these events- shoot I love them too! These guys do some pretty amazing things.
When the trucks flip over- which they almost always do- they use a front loader to right them. The trucks have the same engines as dragsters pushing 1500HP and are pretty impressive engineering pieces. All chromolly tubing- nitrogen shocks- 18 inches of wheel travel- and so on. They can do 60 mph in just a few seconds and have jumped over 200 feet.
My new lens is the Zuiko 7-14mm F4.0 - no that is not a typo!! It is a huge chunk of glass and costly but I am thrilled with some shots I got on Saturday night (another thread in a day or two). I can't wait to try some landscapes with it. It will be on display at the dgrin shootout
Thanks again Skippy.

They don't just survive- they climb out- stand on the side and cheer on the crowd. Some of these guys crash and break their trucks on purpose!

I highly recommend taking your boys to an event. These are the most family friendly events I have ever been too.

Personally my fav was the Mutt.. Too cute!
My son already has too many things on the walls I have a shot of him jumping his quad that I blew up to 30x40. His own personal poster- pretty cool!
That is suprising- all the shows in the Phoenix area have the pit passes available- for free most of the time. This includes the boat drags, and jets vs funny cars too.
Our seats were second level this time because I thought it would be better. I was wrong and we ended up moving towards the lower level during the freestyle event to get better shots. Had to stand but it payed off.
