Really confused - EF versus EF-S

Ok, so I shoot with a Canon 20D.

Today I picked up Canon's EF 15mm Fisheye lens, and to my shock it didn't work. In fact, it threw my whole camera out of whack ... the autofocus is just going ballistic. After reseting the camera's settings, it seems to be back in working order again. But still, I brought the lens back to the store and the gentleman working informed me that the 20D can't use EF lenses? Only EF-S? Is this true? Or is it just the fisheye that the 20D doesn't like, because I KNOW I've seen people shooting with the EF 70-200mm f2.8 on the 20D, 30D, and 40D before ...

Help! :huh

Think this guy should get another job - 20D supports both types (I use 20D too ... with EF lenses)

Haha after further research (1-800-OK-Canon), it seems the 20D does support EF and EF-S lenses, but this particular 15mm fisheye may have been defective. Hmm, all said and done however, it would seem it is good I had this blunder because I much prefer the results of the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye.

Went to Hooper Camera in Newbury Park :). You had any experience with them?

On a different note now, something is very wrong with my camera. When I put that 15mm fisheye on, the autofocus started cycling back and forth and couldn't pick a focal point. I changed lenses, but now the camera is STILL cycling back and forth through different focal points. I took out both batteries, reset the camera completely, and it STILL can't pick a focal point. Even when the lens is set to MF, the lens just cycles back and forth repeatedly.

What on earth is going on?! I shot over 600 shots last night without a problem, and now BAM my camera is a veritable brick!

I had a problem with one of my focal points not working. It just would not focus with that one activated. Sent it in, it required a cleaning, all better. Could also possibly be your contacts? I'm guessing there.

Nope, haven't been to Hooper, and it sounds like I never will!

There's your problem, right there. 'Nuff said.

Treat yourself to Canoga Camera. Good folks. No commission. No attitude. No misinformation. Prices on the website and in the store are the same. I have no affiliation, but I've done business with them since 1992.

I have been there a few times, mostly because I happened to be nearby. Selection is rather poor and prices are rather high (compared to solid online alternatives). I never ask for a consulatation, but I almost never do that in the stores, since the salesperson either doesn't know the aperture from filter or is willing to tell you anything to get you to buy something.
Now, be aware that the EF fisheye was designed for the full-frame cameras, and as such will not provide a complete circle on the crop body. Here;s an example from Smugmug Shootout 2006 trip
