I'm investigating a few aftermarket B&W pigment ink products that, in conjunction with RIPs, convert color printers like the Epson R1800 to allegedly high-quality B&W printers.
Two products I am curious about are:
1. Media Street Generations GQ2 which replaces each of the OEM color inks with black and grey-toned inks, plus it includes a gloss optimizer that fits in the yellow position.
2. MIS Eboni inks substitute three black carts and then allow you to mix in another color ink for split tone and other effects.
Both claim earth shattering quality of B&W reproduction on a variety of matte and fine art papers.
Has anyone here used any of these or similar products? Any advice would be appreciated.
I am also considering the HP B9180 that is supposed to provide excellent B&W (and color) reproduction. If anyone has experience with this and the other products, I would like to hear about that too.
Thanks?
M
