Watermarking Problem

I just added a few photos to this gallery and now, instead of my watermark ,the proof watermark is showing up. I deleted the watermark on all photos then added mine again but the proof still shows up across the middle of each picture. Alll was fine before I uploaded the two new pix. I used the drag and drop uploader.

Is this something I caused or just a passing anomaly?

Thank for your help.

I fixed the watermarks for you. You had the 'hide photo' selected on the images you use for the watermarks. This will cause the default 'proof' watermark to be applied. I moved the watermarks to their own 'private' gallery, this will keep them out of view.

You can remove or change the watermark on the images in the gallery you posted above. If you need anything, yell...wave.gif

Thanks, Rich. I accidently hit the hide instead of the arrange button and didn't realize it. Mystery explained!

I am having a similar problem. I uploaded a PNG with Transparent Background. Did Make Watermark. Made it somewhat Opaque. Now I apply it to each of my galleries (none Hidden) but no Watermark shows that I can tell.

I can't see how to get back to the Watermark Settings to change the Opacity, If necessary.headscratch.gif

Well, you can go to your control panel - then select the Pro Tab. There you should see "custom watermarks". Choose the Edit link to the right of "custom watermarks".

There you will see each custom watermark. Choose edit again for each mark you want to update.

As for them not showing - how big are your originals that you are applying the watermarks to?

    Found them.

Copyright PNG is 900x600 and most of the images are 3008x2008

Did you actually apply the watermark to the images using the photo tools - watermarking menu in each gallery?

Yes. But on drag and dropping a few to my desktop I see that they are 800x or so, actually, so I guess wont be watermaked, as you said.

If I up load Original Raws and mark to show Large in Galleries, would those then get Watermarked? I am not currently selling prints on line.

    Don,

You can't upload RAW, but you can convert to jpg and then upload those. Keep them at the same resolution.

When you watermark using Smugmug the original files are not altered. Only the smaller versions that SmugMug creates from your originals are updated. As long as the original has its longest side > 800px then all sizes will be watermarked.

Well then I'm stumped because I am uploading JPEGs at original 3008x2008 size with Jeff LR Plugin.

I do have all my galleries set to show Large, though, not Original. Does that make a difference?

    Nope.

As long as you followed the right steps to a) create the watermark in SmugMug and then b) the steps to actualy apply the watermark using the photo tools menu then the images -should- be watermarked.

You will have to wait for a SmugMug crew member to go on a hunt of your gallery settings or other issues that may be present that I can't see.

Hey Don, I made 2nd copy of the sunset, http://donricklin.smugmug.com/gallery/4399650_Q4gMp#259272922
and then watermarked it. I got your watermark, and it was in prophoto rgb, which I guess made our system yak.. I saved for web, png24 and in RGB and it was able to work (I made the watermark DonAW which you can edit in your CP, Pros tab).

I also changed your gallery there to viewer controlled for style, so I could see the image #s. You can set it how you like anytime after it's all better.

Okay, that explains it, for sure. It is the only thing I uploaded by the Standard SmugMug Mac Uploader. LR doesn't handle PNG's. So didn't realize it was ProPhoto!

Thanks Andy. I'll see about taking it from here.

Changing the watermark does not affect the images. The watermarked images are static.

You need to reapply the watermark for each gallery.

Hi...I recently joined as a pro, and first off, I say thank you for all of the help in the tutorials...I had no idea about HTML, and they have helped me out immensely. Now I'm stuck though...some of my watermarks still say "proof" even after I have uploaded a custom watermark for them, and it is not hidden itself, but in a hidden gallery like it should be..what's the problem?

Under "photo tools" watermarking you have to re-apply the correct watermark
so that the display photos are regenerated with the new watermark.

That's because those images are too small to be watermarked. The longest side of the image needs to be over 800px <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >
