all shots taken from camera with very little post work [I hate NX oh did I say I hate NX well I do ] 400 iso and my 300 mm left the 500 at home all shots natural light NO FLASH and the last shot was in the shade very dark --I may like this new camera after all BUTTT I still hate nikon NX
These are great Jeff. Enjoy the new camera and I hope this one is better behaved.
this camera has to much crap built in and NX is crap but it is a nice camera and you can shoot with high iso and not hurt your ears when you get home -hope all is well doc come out to la and thaw out --we will shoot some
Very nice shots, Jeff. In my opinion, the quality of the shots at high ISOs put this camera ahead of the pack. Have you tried the new object-following focus? If it works well, this seems like another great feature of this camera for bird photography.

no but thanks I will look at that tonight and give it shot [ shooots ] on sundays shoot .I did a fast camera set [got it thru. and left friday for La Jolla .The shots I took late on thru. --noo bifs and I was happy but on friday I was having a very hard time with the bifs so I mess with my settings and hit d lighting this one shares my feeling about NX .Thanks again for info John :ivar I wish I had some of your research
ability ,that paper you did on SS was the best I have seen
So far I've found the AF on the D300 to be a major improvement over the D200.

Congrats on the camera Jeff. Guess "Musketman" will have to go. I hear the weather sealing on that model is ideal for protection against pineapple juice and pizza sauce. Nice series of pics. I'd keep it...unless you want to jump ship to the other side.
I'm struggling with my d300...it's mostly the exposure giving me trouble.
I have really good luck with exposure --underexpose things but I have always done that with ever camera .pm me and let me know what you meen ,I have trouble with my bifs only that just makes me mad as heck .The camera has way too many settings --make sure vivid is off and most every thing is in neutral . The thing I find is that NX is the biggest bag of crap , view locks up all the time
