Tamrac has a new bag, 5550 Adventure 10 backpack, just released at the recent PMA. More details at the Tamrac link: http://www.tamrac.com/frame_adv.htm

I can't wait until this bag is available for purchase. I contacted B&H and they said they don't even have it in their stock yet, but should have it available in a month. Has anyone heard anything about this bag? I so want to buy this bag, much to the dismay of my fiance. I just recently purchased a whicky & cox from crumpler, but it's not really working out for me. It digs into my shoulder area and is more built for a man's frame, I think. Oh well, another bag to add to my ever-growing collection of bags.
Canon 30D & REB XT (thinking of converting to infrared), Sigma 10-20mm, Tammy 17-50mm 2.8, Canon 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8 IS, Tokina 100mm 2.8 Macro, Canon 50mm 1.8, Canon 1.4 ext, and Sigma 4.5 fish eye along with a Bogen by Gitzo Tripod, Manfrotto Ball Head, MacBook PRO, several HOYA filters and a 2GB & 8GB San Disk, 160GB Sanho storage device (really cool btw)......wishing for a Canon 100-400mm. :wink

The link only shows the 6,7, & 9. How much bigger than the 9 is it? I have the 9 and really like it although at times it would be nice to have more room. Especially since I got the Sigma 80-400 OS Zoom. Though more room equals more stuff equals more weight....

I like the 5550. It looks like my dream carrier for all my gears. But I found it may be too big to carry. The bigger the bag, the more gears inside and more weight.

I have already been carrying more than 15 kg in the CompuTekker AW just with a 14" laptop, a 5D body, 4 lens, 2 flash guns and some accessories to get on the plane. The Slik AMT tripod will replace the laptop when I get into the field with almost the same weight.

The weight of the gears is opposite to the distance to cover. Means the heavier I carry, the less walking I can do.

Just got a crazy idea. Load the 5550 on to a foldable golf trolley and pull it along, so I can carry moreclap.gif

Now there's an idea!!! Love that cart, but I don't think I'll be able to navigate my way around cities very well. I think this new bag that is being released is "the" bag. I can't wait 'till B&H gets it in (hurrey up B&H!!). Wished it came in camoflage (sp?) though.

Brandon Kirk? Tamrac's VP of marketing was at PMA 2008 showing off this new treat. Here is a video somebody thoughtfully posted.

    backpack
I just got this backpack a few days ago, before it's even hit any of the major stores - B&H, Adorama, etc. I went to ebay and found it offered by seller" SoBePhoto". Paid $165 (US) reasonable price, I thought if you compare it to the adventure 9. My only grip with ebay would be that USPS shipping was not good for what I paid. Next time I would call them and ask for shipping with UPS. I ordered stuff from B&H a day later and I had that stuff within 72 hours. USPS took 7 business days for the international express 2-3 business days. After I placed my order, I read the small print in an email I got and noticed it said shipping to canadian addresses may take upto 10 business days. Anyway, getting off topic here. Sorry, my bad.

I love this pack, it was made for me iloveyou.gif . I'm able to fit all of my lenses in the bag (with hoods attached): 70-200mm 2.8, 30D w/24-70 2.8 attached, 1.4 extender, 10-20mm, 100mm macro and my reb xt. The flap for the portion where all of the lenses & bodys are kept also includes room for memory cards among other small items. In addition to that, my macbook pro fits with ample room in the laptop portion and there is tonnes of room in the top area for cords, external LaCie hard drive, card reader, and other junk I haul around. I love, love, love this bag! Did I already say that?! wings.gif Only negative, wow, it weighs soooo much now. But that's not really the bag's fault. mwink.gif Weight is distributed very well.
