I took this photo this past summer at my parent's cabin in Maine with a Kodak point and shoot. The bald eagles have been nesting at the pond the past two years. I just got my first digital SLR in December and I can't wait to get back up there. I've been lurking for a while on this site and I love it. I am so jealous of all the beautiful pictures. I only have a 70-300mm zoom so I can't imagine getting anything too close up but I'll keep trying. Anyone have any loon pictures?? I just love them, I can get very close to them when we are in the kayaks, however with the boat moving the pictures usually come out pretty blurry.

Loons are a real bugger to try to sneak up on to...I would actually go to a hunting website/forum to see how people construct duck blinds, and make one on the shore, and...well, hopefully a Loon will paddle by.

Another thing to remember about birds is that you are invisible to them until you move. Keep that in mind the next time you would like to "shoot" a loon.

*EDIT* By the way, I like the picture...it looks like the young Eagle just now noticed it has wings to take it anywhere.

    "Whoa! Check these out!" :D
