Bigma Test w/ 2x Tele (testing image loss w/ coyote)

So yesterday I got bored and went out to a hill and saw some coyotes. They were really far away, and I figured it was time to test out how the 2x Tele works with the bigma. Honestly I was expecting much more terrible results than what I managed to capture in the evening sunset. Some blur occured as I was tracking the coyote running.

I know it's a little low for the quality, but consider this. Here's a map of the area I was at. The red X is where I'm standing, it's about 400 feet above (in elevation, not actual distance) the field below it. The coyote is in the circled area. So he's further away than if we were at the same height.

Now I admit the quality has dropped, and it's a bit blurred and maybe a bit too over exposed, but this was just a test on whether or not Sigma's 2x teleconverter can optically compete with other teleconverters. What do you think? :)

(Also, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, as it has to do with both wildlife and equipment).

    Bigma Test
    Good Afternoon,
It's looks like you hand held the camera. At 500mm, you should be shooting at least 1/500 sec and with the 2x attached, 1/1000 sec minimum. Based on your EXIF, you shot at 1/100. You also could have bumped the iso up to 800. That would have helped a bit. Personally, I would not use anything over a 1.4 x, but that's me mwink.gif
    Have a good afternoon :D

I know I gotta redo it, :D I just hope next time when it's brighter light (My job's just a pain, I work 11-4 day shifts all but 1 day a week, and tomorrow's my day off, next week I get night shifts, but for the past couple of weeks work's been terrible as a server).

When I redo it I'll post an update. Maybe I'll shoot a car driving along the road as my subject. :)

I just sold my Bigma to a friend of mine and he loves it. I couldn't hand hold it because of a shoulder injury. I do miss the extra reach, that's for sure :cry

As has been said before you need to get your shutter speed up for that kind of shot. The 2X TC gives you reach but you pay for the reach as it "slows" the lens down while requiring higher shutter speeds.

I have never been a fan of the 2X TCs I would rather go for a 1.4 or 1.7 (if possible).

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
