Color Printing?

I know that there is no substitute for having a well calibrated monitor, but since I'm a senior in high school going into college (non photography related major) with payments for a truck that gets 8 mpg so gas isn't helping me either, cash is kinda tight. So far I haven't had a problem with my prints being too far off from what is on my screen, I'm just curious if there is any way without calibration to get prints to look spot on between the monitor and the print. I use Lightroom on a mac and print from an Epson Stylus Photo R320, if that helps. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Pint out a pricture with good contrast and array of primary colors including black and white colors. After the print is done adjust your screen to look as close as your can to your print. Save this profile so you can load it every time you are going to print using that printer, paper type and monitor.thumb.gif

Considering the cost of bad prints, cough up about $70 and at least get a huey to calibrate and profile the display at least once a month. In the short term, you'll pay for quickly.
