ooooh, the last one is really good!thumb.gif The 2nd is my other fave, but I wish that Dad wasn't casting a shadow over baby's face.

    Nice work all around clap.gif

Very nice. Looks like the baby is slightly out of the plane of focus in #2, but it's a strong shot otherwise. I really like the interesting baby feet shot in #10. I also like the idea of #9, but it looks a bit overprocessed for my tastes. thumb.gif to the rest!

Thank you both for your critiques! I really appreciate the feed back! this was one active little boy!

A lot of this I was able to do with natural light, most poses I did a combo with and without my flash....this was the one without the flash as the ones with happened when his mood changed!

Anyone else have anything to add?!

    Some thoughts
Some real nice poses here. It looks as though these were all natural light and not enough btw. The eyes lack catchlights, leaving them bland. Using some flash would change the overall exposure/texture of the shots without it looking like flash...it would provide pop along with the ability to use a higher f/stop. The shallow DOF is taking away your sharpness as a result of attempting to use available light only (due to wide open aperatures). I suspect that the shutter speeds were fairly low as camera shake is evident (#2,3 specifically).

The second one: Baby is OOF. Baby's eyes need to be tack sharp. A few are underexposed (7,8,9).

    I love #10! THat's a cool shot.

Love the first and last shot!!! I agree the other photos look a bit flat and like you didn't have enought light.

Thank you all for the feedback. I appreciate the time you've taken to comment.

What shutter speeds do you suggest using with children, and people in general.

I tend to shoot in Manual mode and adjust depending on the shot. Some the exposure is bang on while others the shutter is lacking? What am I doing wrong...is that not the right priority to be using?

Here's a few more from the same session

    My fav's are 5 and 8,

5 because I love how his little belly bean is just all hanging out.

and 8 due to the precious detail in his little toes.

    Well done!

The others seemed a little soft and perhaps a bit slow on the shutterspeed.

For #10(This seems to be a really popular pose for some reason). Try putting the backdrop over both you and him to have only feets sticking out. That is... if he can tolerate it. :P

    YAY for BABIES!!!! clap.gif

EDIT: Yes, that mean lookin dude in the avatar.. that's me, but I'm really a big softie. :P
