Photo Hits?

My control panel page shows 860 photo views - statistics shows 4276 hits and ~25% conversion. My questions are:

• Is the 860 photo views the actual number if hits, 4276, converted?
• Does the system log hits by my system when I'm logged-on if I have not previously viewed them?

"photo views" on your control panel are all non-thumbnail views.

As a general rule, views are only recorded the first time a given person sees them, but that can change if they have unusual cache settings in their browser or clear their cache.
