After many conversations with my domain provider (domainsite.com) and searching this forum, I'm still unable to get my email (info@ericajordanphotography.com) to forward to my sbcglobal account. Domainsite.com told me it had to do with CNAME set up with Smugmug. They want Smugmug to create an mx record that points to ericajordanphtography.com. I tried this based on the posting that follows:
A ericajordanphotograpy.com 63.81.134.23
CNAME ericajordanphotography.com www.ericajordan.smugmug.com
MX ericajordanphography.com Mx0.domainsite.com
[from forum]
@ in A should point to our IP record 63.81.134.23

If you just want your web address to be http://yourdomain.com instead of something like http://www.yourdomain.com, you can use the @ symbol instead of inserting the subdomain when setting it up. (A subdomain is the part the proceeds yourdomain.com — www is a common subdomain.) Registrars use the @ symbol to indicate the lack of a domain (rather than just leaving it blank).
Some registrars don't allow CNAMEs with @ symbols. They force you to use an A record instead. The basic principle is the same, but instead of pointing to www.smugmug.com it points to our IP address.
Gotcha: Our IP address might change in the future, causing an A record to break. For this reason we suggest trying a CNAME record first.
Our current IP address is 63.81.134.23

Any other suggestions? Should I change the MX to the IP address?
Thanks,

I took a look at your domain ericajordanphotography.com
It looks like you have used ericajordan.smugmug.com in your CNAME. That should point at www.smugmug.com. You need to change that or you will have problems with your SmugMug site.
As for the MX record that domainsite wants you to set up. SmugMug is not a domain host nor do we handle email. There is no place to set up a MX record at SmugMug. That is what domainsite is there for. You should be able to set an MX record in your domainsite account and point it to your sbcglobal account. You may have to check with sbcglobal where the want the MX record pointed to.
Keep in mind that the CNAME, A, and MX records are pointers. When someone sends traffic to your domain the pointers determine what type of traffic it is and points it to the correct location. The CNAME and A records grab http trafic and sends it to your SmugMug account. The MX record will send email traffic to sbcglobal when you get it set up.
If you have problems with the CNAME settings, please let me know. Send an email to the help desk with ATTN: Doc in the subject line so that I see it.

I have URLs registered at register.com and at godaddy.com, and the email forwarding was the same process in both cases.
Can you log on to your email account at your registrar and see if there is an email forwarding option?

I do this with my GoDaddy domains and forward them to my Gmail account.
If you do not have email with your domain then the MX record comes into play.
