Weird issue with diffuse glow filter in Photoshop CS3

I occasionally like to use the diffuse glow filter in CS3. Used judiciously on the right kind of image, I think it can have a nice effect.

However, lately I've discovered that the results are getting inverted. Let me post a before-and-after image to show you what's going on.

Here's the after image. (This wasn't a good candidate for the filter anyway, I might add.)

The one thing I can think of that could have something to do with this is that, when I upgraded to CS3, I did attempt to move some of the CS2 files out of the way afterwards (i.e., I moved about a dozen folders labeled CS2 out of Program Files on XP). Everything else worked fine, and unfortunately I don't know if this filter problem started at the same time or not. I've since moved everything back, having gotten rid of a lot of the garbage on my laptop.
