That's a great shot! Excellent lighting and exposure in a very tough situation.

Remember what Dizzy Dean said, "It ain't braggin' if you can do it."

Now it occurs to me that maybe not everyone is old enough to remember Dizzy Dean. ne_nau.gif

    Thanks, for the great comments!
Have never posted here before. I have been taken pictures for Adventure Racing down here in Central Florida for three years. I like it, you never know what your going to see next. Plenty of Wild Life and Nature for those long waits between teams. This one was 30 hours.... I am beat. But still cant stop looking at the pictures on my monitor. Thanks again. MM

Adam, went to your site ... WOW you have been alot of places, and have captured bunches of beautiful images.

If you ever make it down to FLorida near Sarasota is Myakka State Park. NO waterfalls but lots of beauty. MM

Thanks, is this what you are asking for?
One neighbor racing (actually I never get a good shot of him).
    Rented D300
    18-70mm 3.5 Nikon (came with my D70)
Manual mode, bulb setting, tripod and cable release.

F3.5, ISO 320, rear sync flash.
Truck head lights on the racer to smear his reflective colors.
It just so happens that my head lights where dirty so I think it help with his jersey colors. MM

I like the shot, but not the crop. I think it would look better if most of the right side and above the biker were lost. Theres not much that's interesting in the trees and it would put more focus on the excellent job of tracking the rider. The moon is nice, but I think the picture would be better composed with tighter cropping. For the moon to be effective, it would be better if you stopped the exposure where the biker was under the moon or closer to it. As is, you have a lot of dead space. Since you had to expose for so long anyway, the moon looks like a street lamp if it is the moon.

    Thank for the great suggestions.
To tell the truth I had not touched this image at all. The rider is my friend, and for some reason I never seem to get a great picture of him. So when I got home and saw this I got excited and had to share...

I have been covering local Adventure Races for three years. I sell a couple of pictures here and there, but I feel I am gaining alot of experience from it.

This race was 30 hours straight, out in the woods. After I get home from the race I usually just weed through the pictures and up load them. I dont really do any PP. Thanks for the great input.

    Is this better?

I like it better cropped liked that. It puts more focus on your friend, you can tell where he has been and leave enough to know he is moving towards something. The trees better frame the progress now. thumb.gif

I know you hate loosing the moon, but the picture is better overall. Too bad it wasn't like the second great picture.
