I see so many threads w/ Lightroom questions or ideas. I was wondering what others thought about a Lightroom forum.

Lightroom has done such a good job creating a "one stop pp shop" for photogs. It only makes sense in my mind to have a small portion of dgrin set aside for an application that is dedicated to everything we're all about.. Taking pictures and bring out the beauty in them w/o spending countless hours in post.

I'm only one voice though.

What do you think?

NOTE:
When I googled for Lr via site:www.dgrin.com lightroom I came up w/ over 3200 pages.

Would you like to see a Lightroom forum in dgrin? 44 votes

Sounds great! Why hasn't this been done yet?

It would be nice, but it's not that big a deal.

The forums are already too full. This would just add confusion.

Sure make it a child forum of the Photo Finish forum then it will be the same number of main forums and make the forum more specific.

Looks like a nice program but beyond my budget unless the GIMP folks make a freeware Lunix based version.

And? if I google for Photoshop on dgrin, I get over 16k hits. Doesn't mean there are actually 16k pages or threads on dgrin about photoshop thumb.gif

I should just keep quiet on what I think it is so I don't annoy all the LR users here... :p

As a subforum maybe, but it don't see why LR should get special treatment over any of the multitude of other apps used by forum members.

I'm not asking it get special treatment. I'm just asking to see what people thoughts are. By the vote count. It looks like more mods have voted than anything so it will be a non issue.
BTW: I was thinking subforum. :p

If you want to user crapert I mean aperture (j/k) then post a poll!

Uhmm that's just not true. 16 votes. 6 moderators. Let's not spread untruths, mkay? Let's also remember that moderators are Dgrin members too, okay? With the same rights as you or anyone else in that regard - meaning, they can vote on a poll like this.

I think that adding another forum just adds more chances of something getting put into the "wrong" forum and for many users LightRoom is just a step in the process so it should still be part of the Finishing School

Not sure I should vote?? I'm prejudiced. Send all Lightroom Questions over to Ligthroom Forum!. It is a Free, friendly Forum, right Andy?

    rolleyes1.gif

Seriously, is there a way to interlink the two for this?

    :)

You have a "don't move" option but it's worded as "the forums are too full" why not a "nothings wrong" option. I mean, I think finishing school does a fine job of handling the issues, whether it is LR or Aperture or PS or any other software that people use.

I was saying it in jest Andy. I can see how it was misconstrued though.

Sorry it wasn't black and white enough for you. I assumed the " It would be nice, but it's not that big a deal." would be clear enough to show your vote for "Nothings Wrong"

Except that I don't think it would be nice. I think it is nice the way that it is, and you've got no options for that. You don't have an option for "I like things the way they are" All of them imply that something needs to be changed.

Mostly because plenty of folks use PS and LR. thumb.gif

Once you get more and more visitors and more and more threads, adding more specificity is a good thing.

I am at 300,000 photos and my organization has changed from the time I had 40,000 photos and not just for the additional volume, but as a need to find what I want easier.

I think the additonal child forum for the Flea market has been awesome and could do the same for finishing school.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

Why ever would i wnat to do that? ne_nau.gif It would first force me to swtich to Mac (see first sentence). blbl.gif

Anyway, I'm refraining from voting as I don't particularly care one way or the other. As someone who does not and will not use the app, I don't see this forum as being overrun by questions specific to it. It's got about the same share as PS.

    Thanks for the feedback Chris.
I don't feel the forum is being overrun either. But I'm partial to Lr just as other are partial to their apps. So I'm just running this poll to see if there were like-minds. Especially in forums, there's strength in numbers.

One of the benefits of s sub-forum is it cleans out the mess from the other sub-forums. You won't have to sift through the *ahem* Lightroom crud in Finishing School to find the really valuable stuff about Picture and Fax, or whatever rolleyes1.gif
