This was a good time, it's not absolutely frigid here in BC, but could be warmer, these three were taken with a Rebel XT + 50f1.8 on a tripod behind a Bushnell 60mm spotting scope on another tripod...
Long story short, if you want to digiscope something that moves, get a proper mount

Went out to shoot last night in fairly cold weather. Only item I could think of that would be tall enough to fit in the frame was the Washington Monument. Taken with the Canon 350D and EF 70-210mm.

Freezing in LA??? Try -32F or -36C in eastern Ontario. I haven't got them resized and uploaded yet. After spending 3 hours outdoors last night I had to have a hot bath and went to bed. I'll come back here when I get them ready to post but I'm happy that the sky was crystal clear and my series of the moon from full to eclipse are tack sharp.

These are all wonderful. I missed it, unfortunately, but I never would have been able to get such shots as these.
Let's see some more!

Ok, here are a few shots from the Seattle area.

Thanks Tom
I totally blew this one The clouds broke just as the eclipse was starting. I have some decent shots of the start and end of the eclipse, but just a disaster of the full eclipse with those nice colors. Between focusing issues, some camera shake (I was out at the beach at Bayville, and had a strong wind off the Long Island Sound) and probably just some user error, I didn't end up with much in the way of usable shots of the full eclipse. At least I know for next time
Early in the eclipse:
Probably the best of the full eclipse:

lens too short
clouds too thick

These are 2 composites I'm working on for a calendar. Hope you enjoy!
We had 4 spotlights (about 500 watts each) to light up the tower for the shot. Would have loved to use diffused flashes, but I didn't have enough and the wind was not cooperating. Used Nikon D70, cheapo tripod, 300mm nikon.
(This is the Methodist University tower, Fayetteville NC)
1. Transition: This was plagued by intermittent clouds (particularly the first frame...)
2. Above the tower

My Lunar Eclipse over Las Vegas thread is here.
I have some here - nothing special. Should we have this thread moved to other cool shots? And then should they all get amalgamated? Thoughts?

In mine there was a little. I wouldn't call it trickery though....
The tower was lit up by about 2000 watts of light placed in a tripod configuration around it (normally only the cross at the top is lit). Sitting the camera on the tripod I took a few of the cross (one to expose the tower correctly, one for the cross @ the top). Then a lens switch and zoom in on the moon. They're taken from all in the same area, but the lens switch was necessary to get the moon even barely visible.
In the mean time I was free handing all the shots of the moon as it faded away all the way up to the orangeish color. That had to be done on a tripod with a timer, even my finger on the shutter was causing blur (I orded a wireless release today to fix that in the future...).
So the rainbow is a composite of around 9 shots, the other 3.
Hope you were askin' me.
As for recent posts, I still love the washington monument

Here's my attempt (400mm cropped, compsite of three images, which I had a longer lens so I could get more details on the surface).
