D70 Lens Compatability

Help! I'm currently using a Nikon D70 and my AF-S Nikkor 18-70 zoom works fine. I have an older lens from my film days a Nikon AF Nikkor 80-200. 1:4.5-5.6D where I keep getting the (Fee) error message. I'm locked at the highest aperture (f32) and the manual seems to suggest that this lens should be compatible. Questions:
1. Am I doing anything wrong?
2. Is the lens compatible with the D70?
3. If it's not compatible...is there a cheaper way of making it work...or worst case...do I need to spring for a new lens. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...Calavera

OK... Is the aperture ring set to F32 and the little tab is locked down? ne_nau.gif[/Calavera...yeah I tried that...both High and low...didn't work. Hope I'm responding right on this...I'm a serious technophobe]...
