Hello Smugmug Api Developers
I have just incorporated the smugmug api into terasnaps.com web application and would welcome any that would test and provide feedback. In the spirit of dgrin i called it
teramugs.gif
The API integration basicaly provides the ability to process your smugmug photos through the terasnaps system for face detection, recognition and provides you with the ability to organize your family photos by the people who are in the photos. It is calibrated to detect faces that are the subject of the picture as opposed to background people. So its ideal for family photo organization as opposed to artistic photos.

Terasnaps also creates an anonymouse browsing enviornment where tags and nicknames are not displayed at all and the browsing is based on personal familiarity with the individuals in the photos. It is also an image combining network that can combine images of particular individual accross multiple terasnaps accounts and combine same events accross multiple terasnaps account. So check it out and let me know your feedback particularly if having any difficulty using the system to process your smugmug photos. here is the website link http://www.terasnaps.com/ and here a link for an flv video that explains everything http://www.terasnaps.com/howtovideos/smugmughowto.php

Many thanks to Colin Seymour for phpSmug, the smugmug api team and Markham for their support.

    Very interesting
What a unique idea! I have no idea if this is possible, but I'd like to be able to import the nicknames of the recognized faces back to smugmug as keywords... thoughts?

With iPhone 9 bringing face recognition and tagging into the public eye, you guys should really consider making Terasnaps into a service that can read in all of a user's SmugMug/Phanfare/Flickr/Facebook photos, add tags and keywords and then export that metadata back *out* to the corresponding service.

Because I would totally consider paying for such a service. (But I'm on Phanfare, so do them first, ok? Oh crap, they have no keyword support. Well, ok, SmugMug then.)

Not to beat a dead horse, but...
I tried out your service and it is impressive, but I also would like to be able to pull the data back to Smugmug or my own computer. It seems like Photoshop album, Iphoto 09, Picasaweb, and your service all do face tagging, but none of the services give me ownership of the keyword/face data as far as I can tell. I would also be willing to pay for it.

    thanks,
    Chip

I suppose part of the problem is that as far as I know, there isn't an official EXIF tag for "face tagging".

Sure, it would probably be enough if face recognition software/service just gave us back the users as keywords, but that's not everything. It'd be nice if there were a standard for specifying *where* that person's face is.

Flickr has an API for their notes that lets you specify coordinates:

    Facebook does too:
