Hi Dgrin'ers!

It's been a while since I've posted anything here, so I thought I'd take an oportunity to share with you some photographic related news on the homefront.

cue drumroll/
I have been contracted by the Museum of Nature (www.nature.ca) here in Ottawa for my photographic services! It is being done on a voluntary basis, I will not be paid cash for my work. However, just the experience alone will be invaluable, along with the ability to use in my portfolio. To say I'm excited would be a huge understatement! They will use my work for promotional and educational materials, and have given me two assignments already!

What makes this story a bit more personal is to know something about myself... I had a "rough" upbrigning, and being an only child made things even tougher but I was lucky, I had a sanctuary. It was called (back then, the name changed sometime in the 80's) the Museum of Man, and I practically grew up in there. When things got bad at home I would walk to the museum and, well learn. I learned to learn. I brought with me pens and paper, and I would study everytime I would go. So I always felt like I "owed" something to that museum and its wonderfull staff, and now I get to fulfill that honor. Life can be pretty cool sometimes. :clap

Anyhoo I should also mention 2 folks in particular who have been hugely important to me and my photography, Andy W and Harry B. You two have inspired so much words cannot say. So I'll simply say thank you, thank you very much. :thumb

Sincerely,

AJ

Congratualtions, Musky. clap.gif Normally I'd have something to say about working for free. But your story's a powerful one. I can see why you feel strongly about repaying the ol' museum. Good onya, I hope it turns out to be great fun, and a learning experience!
