Local Fauna

and when i say local i mean ive got 30 or so of these girds hanging arround my apartment complex, this is where they live-year round mind you. now i konw they are birds, but what kind of bird are they. i konw that my cat likes the taste of them as he has gotten out twice and both times has come back with a fesh wing in his mouth. if yall could spread some light on what these little critters are id appreciate it.

    I think it is the famous Leper duck from Molokia Hawaii leper colonies of the 60's and 70's:D ne_nau.gif

    Couldn't find it in my books. Maybe it is a domestic duck raised next to a toxic waste dump. :D

    they look like MuscovyDucks to me. My mother used to keep them when we were children.


    You do not want them around your apartment complex, they make one hell of a mess

    dooood, did you konw that the muscovy duck is one of the ducks most prized for its flavor and richness of its meat? also does anyonekonw that laws on training your cat to retreive these ducks? is that considered hunting?

    Looks like you nailed it dead on. Wasn't pictured in my bird books, but found it when I did a search on the web.
