The first little guy looks harmless enough, but you called it a Bitting Midge,
so I'm guessing he's a nastly little buggar right ?
Those Gnat's have enormous eyes.

Skippy - 99.9% of the midges I get in the garden are non-biting types thank goodness. Think this is the type that drives people nuts in the colder regions (esp Scotland and Canada).

All taken with an MPE-65 at between 3:1 and 5:1. You'd need to reverse a 50mm lens onto a 100mm macro lens to get similar mags.
