Is there a thread to make sacrifices to the gods of photography in?

Having just rescued my 20D and 17-55/2.8 from a shallow puddle and everything apparently still working...

It's on the table with everything open just in case. Fingers crossed my precious is still with me tomorrow.

I do believe this calls for the sacrificial slaughter of a few jpg's...
They shall be offered as soon as I get home

I would use the 20D as an excuse to upgrade (I have one)
I would be in complete anguish over the 17-55...
Good luck and either of the fails I hope it is the 20D and if it does and you don't/can't upgrade contact me I can make you a great deal on one with low clicks...

I'm still knocking every piece of wood I can reach, but it looks like my precious made it.
The body is perfectly fine. I think it fell on it's side with the cf-door down (in the water). There were a couple of droplets just in the seam of the door and one in the battery grip contacts. The flash was open so splashes there. Battery compartment was dry as was the mirror box. Seeing those I started to think probably didn't lose my camera. Said water is very nearly fresh, if not completely from melting ice. Gave it a good drying with my 100-400 L-pump to be sure when I got home
The lens had a bit of moisture in it, probably got in there through the seam where the barrel extends. What I believe is the second lens element fogged up as the lens warmed up, a few pumps of the zoom action dried it. Looks like the lens made it too. Along with the mirror box, the back of the lens was dry. The front was about half an inch or less in the water.
So sum total of the damages as they appear now:
a dirty uv-filter and a few faint spots on the second lens element. And a feeling of utter stupidity (I have a quick release strap on it, would have taken me about 10 seconds to secure to the tree I had the camera wedged in).
Anyway, as an offering to the gods, they deserve it
What I was doing in the first place - an attempt at an sp:
Some 5 seconds later...

This is not helping me hoping my 20D will break so I can get a 40D
Glad for your good fortune.

and thanks!
The 20D doesn't have to break. It's a good camera. You could could buy the 40D and keep both. Then, the next time you need to shoot with two lenses...
