Hi Everybody!

I've been lurking for about 6 weeks and I'm (finally) getting the nerve to post something. I must say I have really been enjoying all the cool photos that have been shared in this forum and I have learned a great deal, too.

A little about me: I live in Central Texas. I've been the 'family photographer' since I was 14 when I got my first camera (a Kodak Instamatic) for my birthday. I now have an Olympus E-500 digital SLR that my husband 'surprised' me with on our 25th anniversary a couple of years ago. I say 'surprised' because I sort of knew I was getting a camera, but my husband had asked me to write down the model name, etc of the one that I wanted and I had written down all the information for a Canon. Oh well, I'm happy with what I have...for now, anyway.

I'm not a professional, but I am trying to be a good amateur. One day I hope to be good enough that someone may actually want to buy something I do, but I'm really just in it for pure enjoyment. I love to take pictures of flowers, butterflies, animals, or whatever catches my eye at the moment.

Yesterday I was at a friend's house to drop off something and I arrived at just the right time to see the deer that come up into her backyard. I actually had my camera with me, so I managed a few pictures before the clicks scared them off. The lighting wasn't the greatest and I didn't have the right lens with me, but I made do with what I had.

These are straight from the camera with no editing except to crop out the little piece of fence that was in the corner.

(I hope this works so you can see the photos.)

Nice to meet y'all.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Yes, I really did shoot these photos with a 50mm macro lens. (I was actually wondering how Harryb knew that's what I used!) I was standing (hidden) about 8-10 feet away from the deer. My friend puts out deer corn & we could hear them coming. I had a few moments to hide between her storage shed and the fence (in the shadows) before the deer arrived. It was the perfect spot and the ladies obliged me with a couple of great poses!

    Thank you, BTW!
